Perseverance & A Passion For
Providing The Highest-Quality Care
In 2002, CCDC owner Shelly Caperello began an in-home daycare to tend to Chico’s littlest learners. The Chico Child Development Center moved permanently out of Shelly’s house and into a new setting in 2007. But, in 2018, like many others displaced by the devastating Camp Fire and its aftermath, CCDC needed to relocate. Scrambling with less than a month to find a suitable space, Shelly found a new home for the program at Palmetto Ave’s peaceful church campus.
Now, as the team celebrates 2 decades of serving the community, they look forward to opening a second location in April 2022 to provide more little ones with the same nurturing care and incredible learning experiences that generations of parents have come to know and love.
Shelly loves having her own grandchildren attend her program and now cares for the children of some of her past students, too. We hope you’ll join the family!

Curricula That Focus On Whole-Child Development
Teachers use the play-based, research-backed FrogStreet© curriculum, including the Conscious Discipline® social-emotional learning component, to help your child reach their academic and social-emotional potential. Enrichments boost their language and creativity, and regular active play fosters healthy physical development.
Communication & Services That Strengthen The Home-School Bond
Teachers communicate with you regularly to ensure continuity of care between home and school. If your child needs behavioral or speech therapy, they receive it on site, so you and their teachers are always in the loop about their progress.
